Race Highlights: 2025 Monaco Grand Prix

Lando Norris got his 2025 campaign back on track with his maiden Monaco win brought him to within three points of team mate Oscar Piastri ($24.6m) in the Drivers’ Championship.

Although this was only the Briton’s second win of the season, he has managed top-four finishes in every Grand Prix so far.

This consistency has also been on display in F1 Fantasy – the McLaren driver has scored more than 30 points in every race weekend this season, buoyed by securing the fastest lap (worth 10 extra points in F1 Fantasy) in five of the eight races so far this year.

Norris finished P2 in Spain in 2024, where he also had the fastest lap, and will be looking to go one better this time around in Barcelona.

Carlos Sainz continues to build momentum after recording a fourth consecutive Grand Prix points finish for Williams last weekend in Monaco.

The Spaniard now turns his attention to his home race and a circuit where he has a strong record.

Since his debut with Toro Rosso in 2015, Sainz has finished in the points in all 10 Grands Prix he has participated in at the Barcelona circuit.

With Yuki Tsunoda and Charles Leclerc securing bonus Driver of the Day points at their home races this season, could Sainz be in the running to do the same this weekend as a crowd favourite with another good result?

Oliver Bearman comes onto the F1 Fantasy radar after averaging six game points in his last two outings.

Most interestingly, the young Briton has the worst Qualifying record on the grid this season for drivers that have completed all eight race weekends.

However, the Haas racer is first among all drivers for positions gained per race (4.6) and third for overtakes per race (4.1) this season.

These metrics are a perfect cocktail for F1 Fantasy points for a driver like Bearman at a circuit like Barcelona that provides plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Isack Hadjar is coming off arguably one of his strongest F1 performances in Monaco, securing P6 for Racing Bulls at an extremely challenging circuit.

The rookie has scored 26 game points across the last four races – tied most among all drivers currently priced under $9.5m.

Requiring a mere two game points for a maximum price rise of $0.6m because of his recent strong results, the French driver becomes an attractive option at an affordable price point.

Look no further than Hadjar this weekend if you’re looking to increase your cost cap.

Although Fernando Alonso has had a rather challenging 2025 season so far, there is a glimmer of hope for F1 Fantasy strategists looking for cheap alternative at an affordable price.

The Aston Martin racer has endured four retirements through eight race weekends, plaguing his ability to challenge for points on a regular basis.

However, the Spanish veteran has now hit the $4.5m price floor in F1 Fantasy, meaning he cannot lose any further value at his current price.

With consecutive Q3 appearances in Imola and Monaco, this may suggest the tide is turning for Alonso’s season, and the home crowd at his back could push him to his first points finish this season.

Other drivers to monitor: Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri

McLaren return to the Strategist’s watchlist after their fifth consecutive weekend of 80 or more F1 Fantasy points in Monaco.

They also continue to exercise something of a stranglehold over the fastest lap, having set six in the eight race weekends so far this season.

Although they are the most expensive asset in F1 Fantasy, McLaren continue to deliver every race weekend to justify their premium price tag.

Red Bull average 44.1 fantasy points per race, a meagre 3.2 points shy of second-placed Ferrari in the F1 Fantasy Teams’ standings.

The Spanish Grand Prix is something of a stronghold for Max Verstappen, the Dutchman having recorded eight podiums in his last nine visits to Barcelona – including three consecutive race victories between 2022 and 2024.

Other constructors to monitor: Ferrari, Williams

As always, be sure to keep a close eye on free practice to help guide your decisions for drivers and teams in the lead up to the team lock deadline.
