The 25-year-old Latvian is contesting a six-round Rally1 programme with M-Sport Ford this season following a string of eye-catching performances in 2024. Driving a Ford Puma, Sesks finished fifth in Poland and seventh on home soil in Latvia, with a mechanical issue costing him a likely podium in the latter. He also made an outing at Rally Chile. While those events took place on familiar territory, this year has been earmarked as a steep learning curve, with the emphasis on building consistency rather than showing outright pace.Sesks began his campaign with sixth place at Rally Sweden in February before finishing 15th at Vodafone Rally de Portugal earlier this month. He arrived with limited experience of the event, having only previously tackled it in Junior WRC in 2021.His rally unravelled almost immediately when tyre damage on SS1 cost him and co-driver Renars Francis three minutes. A further three were lost after a late check-in to SS7, leaving them with little to fight for.“It [learning] is the only important thing at the moment,” said Sesks. “You can’t be expecting something that is not there, so far so good.”
