A late Safety Car caused chaos, with Max Verstappen left on the hard tyre at the restart. That led to a chain of events that saw him collide with George Russell in what has become one of the biggest talking points of the season so far.

There was joy for Nico Hulkenberg though, who climbed from P15 on the grid all the way to fifth – which was not just his best result of the season, but jumped Kick Sauber up to eighth in the standings.
But joy for some meant woe for others, and one team keen to see the back of Spain are Williams, who had a torrid time with both drivers suffering front wing damage.
