The annual Rétromobile show has been held in Paris, France, since the first edition took place in 1976. It’s a massive event that draws enthusiasts from all over the world, including many who fly in from the United States. If you’re part of this group, you can finally say “farewell” to long, expensive flights and jet lag: The show is coming to you next year. The first edition of Retromobile New York will open its doors in 2026.
Hosting the Retromobile show in the United States is more difficult than it might sound. The project has been in the works for years, and the first American edition was originally scheduled to open its doors to the public in 2025. That date was pushed back, and Retromobile New York is now set to open its doors from November 19 to November 22, 2026, according to Motor1. The event will take place at the Javits Center, which is the same venue in Manhattan that welcomes the annual New York International Auto Show.
Gérard Neveu, a 60-year-old French businessman who ran the FIA’s World Endurance Championship until recently, has been appointed the CEO of Retromobile US. His team hopes to draw between 200 and 250 exhibitors, and over 80% of them will come from the United States, which suggests that the idea isn’t to simply copy Rétromobile Paris and paste it in New York. The show will fill about 400,000 square feet spread out over four halls, and the organizers expect to welcome between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors.
For context, about 146,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors attended the 2025 show. There were roughly 2,000 cars and motorcycles on display, and the show spread across about 263,000 square feet of floor space.
Beyond the exhibitors, there’s no word yet on how Retromobile New York will differ from Rétromobile Paris. In the French capital, the show attracts a diverse selection of exhibitors, including parts vendors, well-known restoration shops from across Europe, and carmakers. This year, Mazda celebrated 35 years of the Miata at the event, and Czech Republic-based Škoda held its 130th birthday party. Auctions are a big part of the event as well: Most of the big auction houses organize a sale to coincide with the event.
If you want to add a Grand Prix-winning Bugatti to your collection, you can find one at Rétromobile. If you need washers for a BMW 2002’s cylinder head, odds are you can source one at the show. If you just want to spend an afternoon swimming in a sea of classics, Rétromobile is a good place for that as well. It’s a fascinating event, and we’re looking forward to seeing what it looks like from an American vantage point.
And, the launch of the American franchise doesn’t signal the end of the original show. The next edition of Rétromobile Paris is scheduled to open its doors to the public between January 28 and February 1, 2026.
I’d love to see this in Texas.
