Rain is a rarity when we race in Aragon, but a sprinkling of water on that 2014 Sunday added a nice slice of drama to proceedings. Jorge Lorenzo mastered the conditions to clinch his first victory of the season, while Aleix Espargaro pipped Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow in a phenomenal battle for P2 that saw the Spaniard become the first rider to put an ‘Open Class’ machine on the rostrum. Meanwhile, there were crashes for three big names: Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi.
Aragon 2014 - MotoGP - RACE - Full
Jorge Lorenzo took victory in a chaotic dry-wet race at Aragon, ahead of Aleix Espargaro and Cal Crutchlow on the podium. The race saw drama as Italians Valentino Rossi and Andrea Iannone both suffered big crashes in the dry before Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa went down after the rain began to fall.
2015 is a year that is remembered for plenty of reasons, and one of them is the iconic late-race scrap between Pedrosa and Rossi for second place. Eventual title winner Lorenzo clinched what would prove to be a crucial victory, with his compatriot doing the #99 a favour by beating the #46 in an epic fight.
