The Bugatti Veyron, widely regarded as the first true hypercar, redefined automotive performance with its astonishing specifications: 987 horsepower, a top speed of 253 mph, and a 0–60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. This formidable output stemmed from a highly advanced 8.0-liter W16 engine fitted with four turbochargers, justifying the 16.4 designation. Power delivery was refined through a Haldex all-wheel-drive system and a dual-clutch transmission.
While its standard top speed was capped at 213 mph, activating the “speed key” transformed the car aerodynamically—lowering ride height, retracting the rear wing, and closing front diffusers—to achieve 253 mph with a drag coefficient of 0.36. Braking was equally advanced, featuring massive carbon-ceramic discs and an airbrake that deployed above 120 mph, enabling deceleration forces of 1.3 g and a complete stop from 250 mph in just 10 seconds.
Only 253 coupes were produced, and one of them is slated for auction by Bonhams Cars on July 11. This 2008 Bugatti Veyron 16.4, ordered in December 2006 and delivered new to Switzerland, is offered by its original owner.
It comes finished in a rare two-tone Mocha Brown and White Coffee exterior with a Magnolia and Havana leather interior. It has seen minimal use as it has primarily been kept in static display within a private collection and shows just 480 miles on the odometer.
